Our beautiful parks are perfect for hosting social gatherings and private functions.
You need to book park space for your gathering if:
- more than 50 people will attend
- you intend to take any infrastructure other than a table, chairs and a small marquee to the park – for example, inflatable equipment or a jumping castle, animal related or amusement activities, marquees larger than 3m x 3m or food/coffee trucks, vans or carts.
When your booking is approved we will not allow another booked event to coincide.
Guidelines for social gatherings and private functions in parks
- You do not need a booking if you have less than 50 people attending and no infrastructure other than a table, chairs and small marquee is being taken into the park.
- Jumping castles or inflatable amusement devices must be supplied, installed and operated by a commercial operator.
- Jumping castles are not permitted at Gold Coast foreshore parks.
- No vehicles are permitted in parks outside designated parking areas.
- Alcohol cannot be consumed in public parks as per State Government legislation.
- Park gates cannot be unlocked under any circumstances for private events.
- Our parks and gardens are regularly maintained but we cannot provide special mowing or servicing of the area before your function or event.
- Decorations cannot be attached to trees or vegetation and must be removed after your gathering.
- Please keep acoustic and amplified music under 72 decibels.
- There is no provision for electrical power in the parks.
- Small portable electric or gas barbeques with a lid are permitted in parks, however open flame barbeques (including charcoal and woodfire) and commercial-grade equipment are not permitted.
- Approval of a booking does not guarantee exclusive use of the area and its facilities, so full cooperation with others who also have permission to use the park is required.
- Gatherings that have infrastructure or over 50 attendees that do not have a booking or are in breach of the terms and conditions for use of Council-controlled parklands. Such events may be penalised by City's Local Law Officers under Local Law No. 9 (Parks and Reserves) 2008.
Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens – Rotary Education Pavilion
The Botanic Gardens is primarily a conservation-focused space designed for education, environment and community enjoyment. For this reason, commercial activities such as inflatables (jumping castles), petting zoos, pony rides, food vendors/trucks or commercial pop-up picnics are not permitted.
Wedding ceremonies and private gatherings are welcome.
The Rotary Education Pavilion is available for educational activities only (no private social functions). To book, please select ‘Rotary Pavilion (Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens)’ from the drop-down menu on the booking form.

St Margaret's Chapel
