We are committed to promoting an active and healthy outdoor lifestyle across the Gold Coast. We do this through the provision of well planned, managed and maintained:
- public open space
- parks and natural areas facilities
- sport and recreation facilities.

Commercial activities at a sports field
Businesses or individuals can apply to conduct commercial activities at a park, i.e. professional sports coaching, sports clinics, or school holiday activities

Community/major events
When does your sports field booking become an event?
The Right of Use (ROU) permit does not constitute approval to stage community or major events. User groups must:
- seek the City’s approval for any such event, and
- ensure they carry it out in a safe manner whilst preventing nuisances to the surrounding environment.
If an event requires extra infrastructure (for example, portable toilets, bins, marquees, jumping castle) or may cause nuisance (for example, traffic, noise), the applicant must submit a Community or major event form
Sports field closures
We update the information on this page (only if there are changes) at 8.30am and 2pm on business days. It is not updated:
- after business hours
- on public holidays,
- or over the weekend.
Advice due to wet weather is a recommendation. It is not possible for Council officers to inspect all sports fields within all parks, and weather conditions may change during this time. In these cases, it is the responsibility of the respective club onsite to determine playing and/or training conditions.
Schools, clubs and groups who use the fields against the Council's advice are reminded that if they cause damage to the playing surface, they may be liable for fines and/or cost for repairs.
