2024 NBL Blitz event information

The NBL Blitz is the only time of the year where all 10 National Basketball League (NBL) teams converge at one location and compete in pre-season tournament ahead of their upcoming season. Find information about the event below.

Event information

When is the NBL Blitz?

The 2024 NBL Blitz will run for one week from 7 to 14 September 2024.

Where will the NBL Blitz be hosted?

The 2024 NBL Blitz will be hosted across two venues – Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre and Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium. Both venues are located within the Gold Coast Sports Precinct at 296 Nerang Broadbeach Road, Carrara .

Where can I find the full schedule / competition draw?

The NBL Blitz full schedule can be found at www.nblblitz.com.au and in the image gallery at the end of this page.

Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium will host the first two days of the Blitz featuring four games, before the tournament shifts to Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre from 9 September.

How many games will be played?

There will be 2 games played every day throughout the Blitz, with one game on the last day of the tournament. A total of 15 games will be played over the 8-day event. Visit www.nblblitz.com.au to confirm full schedule dates and times.

What times will games be played?

Nearly all games will be played in the later afternoons from 5pm and 7:30pm (AEST), with games scheduled on day two starting from 1pm (AEST). Visit www.nblblitz.com.au to confirm full schedule dates and times.

Will there be merchandise available for purchase?

Yes, NBL will have merchandise available for purchase at the games.

Ticketing

When do tickets go on sale?

Tickets will go on sale to the general public from Wednesday 24 July 2024.

How much do tickets cost?

Ticket prices will start at $10 for children (aged 5 to 14 years) and $20 for adults. Family passes are also available for $50.

Does this event offer complimentary tickets for companion card holders?

Yes, however complimentary tickets are strictly available to valid Companion Card holders only and with a paid ticket. The cardholder must provide the Companion Card number when making a booking in the same transaction as a value ticket. Accessible Ticketing Terms and Conditions apply.

I have purchased a ticket and can no longer attend. Can I get a refund?

If you are no longer able to attend the Blitz or need to sell your ticket, you can put your ticket/s up for re-sale on the Ticketek Marketplace. For more information visit the Ticketek Marketplace Seller FAQs page.

Tickets have sold out, can I still buy tickets?

For any tickets that may become available or released for re-sale, we encourage fans to frequently check the Ticketek or Ticketek Marketplace pages.

Will the Blitz be broadcast or streamed?

All games will be streamed on Kayo Freebies for free with no credit card details required. Kayo Freebies can be accessed by downloading the Kayo Sports app or create an account through Kayo Freebies page.

Travel and parking

How do I get to the venues?

Due to the limited parking within the precinct, we recommend spectators take public transport, use ride shares or drop offs where possible. Translink public transport services including trains and buses will be operating – plan your journey via the Translink website.

Bus

Stop ID 319999, Nerang Broadbeach Road at Lakeview Drive, Nerang, followed by a short 10–15 minute walk roughly 900m to the venue.

Stop ID 300206, Riverside Home Caravan Park, Carrara, followed by a 15–20 minute walk roughly 1.2km to the venue.

Train

Stop at Nerang station, followed by a 30 minute walk roughly 2.3km to the venue.

Ride

Avoid traffic congestion and easy access to the venue by riding your bike or jumping on a lime bike! We kindly ask that riders use the designated bike racks located in the carpark of Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre. Ride responsibly.

Is there car parking available?

Yes, car parking will be available within the Gold Coast Sports Precinct’s Blue Carpark, located directly across the road from People First Stadium and the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre. The carpark will open from 1.5 hours before the game and close 1 hour after the final game has ended. The car park is a 10–15 minute walk to the venue.

Pricing for car parking is $10 per car park. Visit Ticketek to secure parking. Parking will be limited so spectators are highly encouraged to take public transport or use ride shares where possible.

Is there accessible parking available?

Yes, accessible parking is available for persons with disability. For accessible parking, please email MSVEvents@goldcoast.qld.gov.au.

How do I access parking?

Entry into the Blue Carpark is via Nerang-Broadbeach Road heading Westbound. Refer to the parking map in the gallery at the bottom of this page.

Accessibility

Are these venues accessible?

Yes. Both Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre and Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium are accessible venues to ensure they are inclusive for all fans and guests. The venues have accessible facilities including:

  • disability parking
  • elevator access
  • accessible seating
  • Changing Places and accessible toilets.

What does this mean if I am a regular user or hirer?

Major Venues are excited to host NBL Blitz in 2024!

Where possible, the venues will endeavour to limit the impacts to our regular and casual users or provide suitable alternatives at another major venue. General venue information

Can I bring food or drink into the venue?

Food or beverages from commercial outlets are not permitted within Major Venues.

However, homemade food, sealed bottled water (up to 1.25L personal quantities only) and sealed non-alcoholic beverages (up to 600mL) in plastic bottles are permitted.

Food and beverages can also be purchased inside the venues.

Will there be food or drinks available to purchase during the event?

Yes, both venues offer food and beverage outlets within the stadiums for ease of access. Major Venues provide multiple kiosks, coffee carts, bars and a café.

What types of food and drinks are available to purchase?

Food items range from traditional favourites such as hot chips, hot dogs, pies and burgers to healthy options such as wraps, salads and watermelon cups. Barista made coffee and hot drinks are available from select kiosks, café and coffee cart. Confectionery including ice-creams, chocolate bars and lollies are also available. Cold drinks are available from all outlets.

Will there be alcoholic beverages served at the venue?

Yes, alcoholic beverages will be available from bars, kiosks and café. Major Venues management and team practise the Responsible Service of Alcohol. Patrons who appear under 25 may be asked to present a valid ID prior to being served. Student ID and similar will not be accepted. Penalties apply for patrons who fail to comply with conditions set out in the Liquor Act 2007.

Does the venue accept cash?

No, Major Venues are cashless venues and do not accept cash. Payment can be made by debit card, Mastercard or Visa.

AASCF and CBSQ Opens attendees

I am attending the AASCF State Championships or the CBSQ Opens, how will this impact me?

Due to the anticipated amount of attendees within the Gold Coast Sports Precinct during these events and the NBL Blitz, the precinct will be busier than usual. We strongly encourage attendees and spectators of this event to allow additional travel time for arrival and parking within the precinct ahead of these events.

Where do I park for AASCF State Championships or the CBSQ Opens?

Parking allocations have been provided to your specific event organisers. We encourage attendees of the events to contact their event organisers directly for advice and directions on parking within the precinct.

Do I need tickets to attend AASCF State Championships or the CBSQ Opens?

Ticketing for these events will be at the discretion of the event organisers, see below:
