Waste & recycling

Announcements

Varied hours: Due to peak demand, there may be varied hours at some waste and recycling centres. Refer to waste and recycling centres on the Gold Coast for opening hours. To avoid long queues and congestion, sort your load beforehand and visit our waste and recycling centres outside of peak times (10am to 2pm daily, weekend and public holidays). Please be kind and patient.

Public holidays: Collection services operate as usual over all public holidays. Waste and recycling centres are open every day except for Christmas Day and Good Friday.

Temporary changes at Stapylton Landfill: Due to emergent works at Molendinar Waste & Recycling Centre, increased numbers of heavy-duty trucks using this site will need to be diverted to the Stapylton Landfill. The temporary changes at Stapylton Landfill for residential customers will remain in place until at least 30 April 2023 to ensure the safe operation of the site. Only commercial customers and residents disposing of construction and demolition materials will be accepted. All other residents will be diverted to Jacobs Well, Pimpama (green organics only) or Helensvale waste and recycling centres.

Residents can use City waste and recycling centres to dispose of certain items without payment, within certain limits.

Visit How to use our waste & recycling centres to find out:

  • how much waste you can take to a centre before a fee is charged
