Residential bins
Which bin?
We can all play a part in reducing the landfill we produce by re-using or recycling our waste. Many household items can be recycled, some can't. Some items can be placed in your recycling, general waste or green organics bin, others may need to be disposed of in another way.
Use our Recyclepedia to find out where to put your household waste and recyclables.

Standard bin set
All eligible residential households within the bin collection service area should have a bin set of:
- a 240-litre general waste (landfill) bin, with a red or dark green lid, and
- a 240-litre recycling bin (yellow lid), and
- a 240-litre green organics bin (lime green lid, for most freestanding residential properties). For more information about this service, including how to opt in and what can/can't go in this bin, see our Green organics bin page.

For larger unit blocks and apartment buildings, check with your body corporate or contact us on 07 5667 5976 for information about your bin collection services.
Please ensure bins are placed on the kerbside the night before collections day.
Where to put your bins for collection
- Place your bins no more than one metre from the kerbside the night before collection day – including on public holidays.
- Bins must face the road and be away from any trees, cars or anything else that could prevent access to the bins.
- Place each bin at least 30 centimetres apart.
- Ensure the bin lid is closed.
- Return bins to their usual place on your property as soon as possible after collection to avoid them being damaged, stolen or causing a public health/safety issue.
