- A service fee of $50 (incl GST) will be payable for each application.
FLEXiSKiP, our on-demand bulky kerbside collection service, is an available option for residents to dispose of bulky household waste.

A $50 service fee is applicable for those residents who choose to opt in to use this service.
How does FLEXiSKiP work?
FLEXiSKiP is a heavy duty, 3 cubic metre skip container with a one tonne capacity. It is big enough to fit couches, mattresses and other large bulky items (dimensions are 1 metre high x 2.2 metres long x 1.4 metres wide). You can set up the FLEXiSKiP within 4 metres of the street kerb, fill it up and then arrange collection.

- setting up an online account (credit/debit card details and a valid email address are required as part of the application process)

Your booked collection can't occur – this can be due to a range of issues including:
- the skip's location is unsuitable for collection; for example, not on kerbside or too close to cars, trees and powerlines
- the skip is overweight or oversized
- the skip contains non-accepted items.

Who is eligible
You are not eligible if you live in:
- high-rise or unit complexes with an existing bulk bin service*
- any complex with more than 10 units/lots*
- rural areas that do not have a City waste collection service, or island communities
- Hope Island and Sanctuary Cove resort complexes that are serviced by a private waste services contractor.
*If you are not eligible for a FLEXiSKiP service, you may be eligible for the Bulky Kerbside Remission Program.
Bulky Kerbside Remission Program
The bulky kerbside remission program partially covers the cost of private bulky waste collections services for properties that meet all below criteria:
- Residential Community Tittle Scheme (CTS) or Body Corporate buildings
- Residential gated communities
- Has more than 10 units / lots
- Currently using the City of Gold Coast waste collection services
Private bulky waste collection services may include:
- Skip bins
- Waste removal trucks or trailers
- Other suitable bulky waste solutions

Other important information
- You cannot give your FLEXiSKiP to another household once it has been delivered. FLEXiSKiP uses GPS registration and the QR code on the bag will not activate a skip collection at any property other than the one it was initially delivered to.
- You may incur a fee if the FLEXiSKiP is moved to an alternate property.
- We understand that some eligible residents may have difficulty moving heavy items and filling their FLEXiSKiP. We recommend that residents get assistance with these tasks from an able-bodied neighbour, family member or friend.
- To dispute charges, please email us at bulk-kerbside@goldcoast.qld.gov.au. We investigate disputes on a case-by-case basis and make a based decision based on the evidence.
Frequently asked questions
What is the service fee?
The service fee is a small contribution fee that only users of the FLEXiSKiP service pay.
Why was the service fee introduced?
The fee was introduced due to the significant growth in service uptake and the rising costs to manage waste, which the City can no longer fully subsidise for residents. The fee helps to offset these costs and enables more bags to be available for more households.
The $50 service fee helps ensure that those who opt in to use the service, contribute to the cost of providing and managing it.
To access this service outside the City’s Bulky Kerbside Program, it would cost between $340 - $350.
If I got a FLEXiSKiP during January – June 2026, can I get another one now if I pay the service fee?
Yes. Each household can access one FLEXiSKiP service per financial year through the City’s bulky kerbside program. Previously it was one service per calendar year.
What is my best option – Bulky Kerbside versus going to the Waste and Recycling Centre (WRC)?
It depends on what works best for you.
- FLEXiSKiP is a convenient option where items are collected from your property. A $50 service fee applies.
- Waste and Recycling Centres are an alternate option. From 1 July a $5 gate fee applies when disposing of landfill waste. Recycling and green organics will remain free.
Does the FLEXiSKiP bag get recycled?
Yes. The FLEXiSKiP bag is recycled after it has been collected.
The bags are recycled into various products including soundproofing panels, chairs for schools and community spaces.
Does any of the material collected get recycled?
Yes, wherever possible. Materials such as green organics and metals are separated and recycled. Any remaining waste unable to be recycled is sent to landfill.
