$5 gate fee from 1 July: a fairer way to manage landfill waste
From 1 July 2026, a $5 gate fee will apply at our waste and recycling centres if your load includes ANY landfill or construction and demolition waste. If you’re dropping off recycling or green waste ONLY, it’s still free.

Pimpama Recycling Centre is open every day, Monday to Sunday, between 7am and 4:50pm, except on Good Friday and Christmas Day.

Plan ahead and save time
1. Check that you are only bringing recycling and green organics.
Our Pimpama centre does not accept:
- general waste – the closest facilities accepting general waste are Helensvale and Jacobs Well
- commercial or work waste – the closest facilities accepting commercial or work waste are Stapylton and Reedy Creek. Our Molendinar centre accepts commercial green organics only.
2. Check that your items are accepted at this centre, using the list below.
3. Sort your load before you leave home to make your visit to the recycling centre easy. For example, ensure your cardboard boxes are free from styrofoam.
4. Time your visit outside the peak demand period between 10am and 2pm to avoid delays.

- Batteries (including car)
- Cardboard
- Charity bin donations, such as clothing
- Cooking oil (up to 20 litres)
- eWaste
- Gas bottles – empty (up to 9.5 kilograms)
- Green organics (residential)
- Household hazardous waste, for example, pool chlorine, herbicides, fuel, oven cleaners
- Lounges/couches (non-recyclable)
- Mixed recyclables (yellow lid bins) – aluminium cans, paper, plastic and glass bottles
- Motor oil (up to 20 litres)
- Paint
- Timber and palings (untreated)
- Whitegoods (including air conditioning units, microwaves and fridges)

- Commercial and industrial waste
- General waste
- Green organics (commercial)
- Polystyrene
- Soft plastics and plastic wrapping for e-waste
- Soil
- Sand
- Concrete
- Brick
- Tile
- Asphalt
Waste disposal fees
Residents can use our waste and recycling centres to dispose of certain items fee-free, within certain limits. It is free to drop off separated, recyclable materials at waste centre recycling areas.
