Waste & recycling centres
Closure of the Mudgeeraba Waste and Recycling Centre
In preparation for the planned expansion of the Mudgeeraba Cemetery and to support improved waste management, the Mudgeeraba Waste and Recycling Centre (WRC) will permanently close to the public from 1 July 2022.
Residents will continue to have access to the larger Reedy Creek and Merrimac WRCs. These premium centres offer additional waste and recycling facilities for customers such as Recycling Street and Green Organics Drop and Go.
The kerbside waste, recycling and green organics wheelie bin collection services provided by the City (including those in the recent collections expansions areas) will be unaffected.
The City’s bulky kerbside collection service (provision of a FLEXiSKiP) will continue to be available to eligible residents.
Public holidays: Our waste and recycling centres are open every day except for Christmas Day and Good Friday.
Reedy Creek Commercial Landfill is closed on all public holidays.
Please check our list of centres for details of their location and opening hours.
Our waste management facilities experience peak demand between 10am and 2pm. To avoid delay, we recommend you visit outside these times.
To improve the safety of the community and City staff, our waste and recycling centres use surveillance equipment, including body cameras. Behaviour of an aggressive or abusive nature is not accepted at any centre.
Free tree program
The Free Tree Program begins each year in January. In 2022, residents (property owners and tenants) will be able to collect up to 3 free trees, per calendar year, from Reedy Creek Waste and Recycling Centre and other locations on scheduled dates and times between January and May.
Body corporates, schools and community groups can continue to collect their free trees from the Coombabah Nursery.
