Recycled water quality
Recycled water is treated and monitored at our sewage treatment plants in line with state government legislation. At a minimum, recycled water quality must meet the standards set under the Public Health Regulation 2018 Sections 58 and 59.
Recycled water is safe for humans and the environment when used correctly. We provide a range of recycled water at varying quality. The quality of the water dictates its use.
We monitor and report on excess recycled water releases under strict performance criteria which includes location, timing, volume and water quality.
We also regularly monitor the health of the Broadwater through its own comprehensive Receiving Environment Monitoring Program which meets the Queensland environmental regulator’s guidelines and requirements. We provide annual reports of our monitoring results and longer-term findings to the regulator in line with our licence conditions. To learn more, visit Water quality monitoring programs.
