John Laws Park

John Laws Park

Known as Burleigh Hill, this picturesque park offers stunning views of the beach and the coastline all the way to Surfers Paradise.

This park is reliably popular and busy on weekends. Locals and visitors come to Burleigh Hill to picnic, listen to music, relax, walk the dog, or enjoy the breathtaking views of the coast.

Park features include:

  • a couple of large, sheltered picnic areas at each end of the park
  • barbecue facilities with a sink are available at the lower end
  • outdoor shower, drinking fountains, and a water refill station are conveniently added along the coastal pathway
  • plenty of seating areas around the park, as well as big trees providing shade for those who prefer to lay down on the grass
  • a viewing deck/lookout with telescope.

The park also includes a playground with swing sets, a 4-seat spinner, climbing equipment with nets, slide, and see-saw.

The top of the hill is a perfect spot to watch the surfing as it overlooks the surf break. It is also the starting point for the Burleigh National Park walk, which provide 2 popular walking and running tracks. Choose either an ocean-view or rainforest circuit, the return journeys are 2.3 and 2.4 kilometres.

Access to the patrolled Burleigh Beach is just around the corner, too.

There are many parking bays along Goodwin Terrace, and at the end of this road is a small onsite car park. For more information see Burleigh Heads parking.

Public toilets are available next to the Burleigh Pavilion, including disability toilets.

The park features a Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliant accessible toilet design specifically for those with disabilities and special needs.
