International relations

The Gold Coast is Australia’s sixth largest city and one of its fastest growing.

Our Gross Region Product (GRP) is estimated to be more than $35 billion, with a five year average annual growth rate of 4.4 per cent.

With a multi-cultural population of 590,000 people, the Gold Coast is projected to be home to approximately one million people by 2050.

We’re continuing to support and enable future growth to create a modern, globally-connected city.

The City’s Office of Innovation and Economy is leading digital city and business and investment programs to establish the Gold Coast as Australia’s fastest growing economy, driven by the adoption of telecommunications and cutting-edge technologies.

Our Economic Development Strategy, Destination Tourism Management Plan and Digital City Roadmap set the strategic direction for how we will grow the Gold Coast economy at a faster rate than the State average, and establish us as one of Australia’s leading digital cities.
