Dubai is the largest and most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf. The main drivers of Dubai’s economy are tourism, aviation, real estate, and financial services. Healthcare, technology and clean energy are other steadily growing sectors in Dubai.

  • Language: Arabic is the official language of Dubai however many Emiratis also speak excellent English.
  • Location: Dubai is one of seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. Dubai is located on the eastern side of the Arabian Peninsula.
  • Climate: There are only two real seasons in Dubai, summer and winter. Summer starts around mid-April, with the temperature gradually increasing until it reaches highs of 45°C through to October. Humidity is generally high during the summer. Winter starts around the beginning of November changing from extremely hot and humid to comfortable, cool days. January is the peak of winter where the temperature could drop to 15°C.
  • Distance from the Gold Coast: approximately 13 hours by plane.
  • Local time: The local time in Dubai is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) +4 which is six hours behind the Gold Coast.
