Noumea

Noumea is the capital city of the French territory, New Caledonia which is located in the Pacific Ocean. Tourism is the leading industry in Noumea and the city comprises an industrial and business zone including a port used for both cruise ships and international trade. Noumea is also home to a pyro-metallurgical nickel treatment plant, with the nickel industry being the largest employer.

  • Language: The official language spoken in Noumea is French.
  • Location: Noumea is the capital city of the French territory, New Caledonia and lies within the Pacific Ocean east of Australia. It is located on the south of the main island Grand Terre.
  • Climate: Noumea has a warm tropical climate. The cool season is from April to August and the hottest period is from September to March. The rainy season is between January and March. In Noumea and along the west coast of New Caledonia, the seasons are less defined than on the east coast. Temperatures range from an average of 25°C in summer to an average of 20°C in winter.
  • Distance from the Gold Coast: Approximately two hours by plane.
  • Local time: The local time of Noumea is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) +11 which is one hour ahead of the Gold Coast.
