Accessible facilities and services for children

City of Gold Coast is committed to creating a city that is inclusive and accessible for everyone. See how we are moving toward this goal - view our Draft Accessible and Inclusive City Action Plan (2020-2025) and find out more about our services below.

Accessible library collection

The City provides resources to assist children and adults with their development and rehabilitation. There is no charge to borrow the resources. To find out more, see our Gold Coast Libraries Special Needs collection page or phone 07 5581 7180.

Accessible parks and playgrounds

We are working to make our parks and playgrounds more accessible. This includes a new Changing Places facility at our Kurrawa All Abilities playground, and installation of new accessible play equipment and infrastructure in new and upgraded playgrounds and parks.

To find out more about our most accessible, existing parks and playgrounds see our Parks information for people with a disability page.

Changing Places facilities

We provide a number of Changing Places toilet facilities, with an adjustable height change table, ceiling tracking hoist, a shower and plenty of circulation space. To find your nearest Changing Places facility, or to obtain a MLAK (key) to these facilities see our Changing Places page.

Beach wheelchairs

Beach wheelchairs are available for free from a number of locations in the city. Most locations have beach wheelchairs available in adult and child sizes.

Active & Healthy - All ability sports

From Nippers to golf, find a range of accessible and inclusive sports for everyone. See our Active & Healthy - All ability sports page for more information.

Services and support
