Project details

The Stage 6 Upgrade will increase the capacity of Coombabah Sewage Treatment Plant for a 10-year growth horizon. Works that are being undertaken will use the existing plant process technology and include:

  • new Preliminary Treatment Facilities (PTF)
  • bioreactors and secondary clarifiers
  • disinfection system
  • waste sludge thickening and dewatering
  • associated ancillary and support facilities.

Public impacts

  • Parking along Shelter Road will be reconfigured. While these works are being undertaken, traffic control and temporary parking arrangements will be in place.
  • Significant heavy vehicle movements on Brisbane Road and Shelter Road, Coombabah which may cause some noise and dust.
  • Reduced speed limits on Shelter Road will be in place for the duration of the project.
  • Temporary changes to the carpark along the northern side of Shelter Road near the Coombabah STP entrance.
  • General construction noise may be experienced within close proximity to the site.

Benefits to the community

The upgrade will increase capacity to facilitate the growth within the City to at least 2032.
