Coomera – Foxwell Road – new shared path

Commencing: April 2021
Completion: August 2021 (weather permitting)
Cost: $1.732 million

Project information

Works are commencing to improve cycling and pedestrian connectivity on Foxwell Road. The project will provide a safe off-road environment for pedestrians and cyclists and improve connectivity within the broader active transport network in the suburb of Coomera.

Construction details

  • Construct a 2 metre-wide shared path along Foxwell Road, from Oakey Creek Road to Learning Street, in Coomera (length approximately 510 metres)
  • Construct a 1.5 metre-wide path along the east and west sides of Henry Street to connect to the new path on Foxwell Road (length approximately 40 metres)
  • Install 110 metres of retaining wall and pedestrian fence
  • Install lighting to the same standard of lighting which currently exists along Foxwell Road, to the east and west of the project site
  • Construct 5 kerb ramps
  • Reconstruct 2 driveways (residents will receive formal notification before any driveways are reconstructed)
  • Some tree removal and pruning, to be replaced with new semi-mature trees and natives
  • Install signs and line-marking in accordance with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)

Construction will occur during standard weekday hours of Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm. We will do our best to minimise construction impacts and inconvenience.

Traffic management will be in place to assist pedestrians and road users around active work sites. Please follow signs and slow down when approaching the works area.

Benefits for the community

  • Supports the City’s Active Transport Plan 2017–27 which promotes active travel to surrounding destinations, improves network connectivity, accessibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists
  • Provide a safe, connected shared pathway in the connective streets around Foxwell Road for pedestrians and cyclists
  • Upgrades to path, kerbs and verge, stormwater and pedestrian ramps to comply with DDA requirements
  • Safe off-road route to benefit local active transport users in the area and connect to the wider active transport network
  • Landscaping and minor tree pruning to provide a fresh new look to the street

Thank you for your patience while we work towards a better-connected city.
