Annual Plan and City Budget 2021-22

Front cover of Annual Plan 2021-22 document.

Diverse Economy is the theme for the City of Gold Coast’s Annual Plan 2021-22.

Our Annual Plan continues to focus on long term financial sustainability, while preserving the city’s liveability, meeting community service expectations, and responding to emerging challenges and opportunities.

Historically, diversity has allowed the City to both cope with challenges and thrive on opportunities.

Strengthening the diversity in our economy and continued sensible financial planning will allow the City to continue on a trajectory consistent with the City Vision -'Inspired by lifestyle. Driven by opportunity', our Corporate Plan (Gold Coast 2022) and our key City strategies.

The Annual Plan includes the City Budget and City Operational Plan, providing a comprehensive view of our priorities, key areas of expenditure and levels of rates, fees and charges.

City Budget

Value for money remains our main priority through the delivery of the 2021-22 Annual Budget.

Cost of living and operating pressures remain key challenges for businesses and families across our city. That’s why we’ve adopted a back-to-basics budget, as we continue to focus on what matters for our ratepayers.

Record infrastructure investment, standard of service, managing debt and keeping our rate increase as close to CPI as possible. These are the four pillars of our budget.

This ‘low rates’ environment comes at a time when we are all working together to economically, and socially, recover from the challenges of COVID-19.

Our 65,000 small businesses, and our valued residents and ratepayers, have all faced the challenges of COVID-19.

Together we’ve come through this global pandemic and are now starting to see the green shoots of economic, and social, recovery.

At the same time, we are ensuring frontline services remain a priority. All this comes at a cost, but through sensible planning our Councillors and City Officers are catering for a booming population as people from across Australia flock to our piece of paradise.

Together, we can ensure our city remains a great place to live, work and invest.
