Arts and culture within our city

You’re invited to have your say on arts and culture within our city.

You can have your say by visiting the Culture Counts website. Consultation opens at 8am on 30 January 2020 and closes 5pm on 19 February 2020.

By participating in the survey you could win one of five $100 EFTPOS cards.

Through the survey we aim to capture data on the impact of arts and culture and how you perceive it benefits you and the Gold Coast community.

Cultural activity includes but is not limited to, visual and performing arts, music, museums and galleries, history and heritage including the natural environment, Indigenous culture, craft, libraries, literature, publishing, digital and new media, design, architecture, food, film, fashion, television and radio.

Over the past year, we’ve been working conscientiously to build an eclectic mix of art and cultural experiences and programs to achieve our city’s cultural vision. We’ve:

  • launched the Music Action Plan 2021
  • established the Music Advisory Group
  • showcased our local musicians to a national and international audience at BIGSOUND, Brisbane and at the Gold Coast Music Awards
  • attracted Queen to the Gold Coast
  • attracted and retained key events and artists including The Drop Festival at Coolangatta, Blues on Broadbeach, Jessica Mauboy, Tim Finn, Tim Minchin and Ministry of Sound: Orchestrated at HOTA Outdoor Stage, and the Roots Music Festival
  • funded and supported hundreds of artists, arts organisation’s and creatives to initiate, develop or deliver new ideas and projects for our community including the Gold Coast’s flagship arts and cultural event; Bleach* Festival
  • progressed stage two of the cultural precinct at Evandale including the HOTA Gallery.
