  1. Residential green organics will only be accepted at waste and recycling centres (WRCs) with 'Green organics drop and go', which includes Pimpama, Merrimac, Molendinar, Reedy Creek and Staplyton
  2. e-waste is only accepted at Helensvale, Molendinar, Merrimac and Reedy Creek WRCs.

To make recycling of green organics faster and easier, the City is expanding its network of green organics drop and go’s at our Waste and Recycling Centres (WRC) across the Gold Coast.

These zones are now operational at

You are now able to drive in and drop your green organics directly off the back of your vehicle or trailer onto a designated ground level area. This eliminates the need for lifting and loading into bins which means a faster trip and reduced waiting times.

Residents now have the flexibility to dispose of large quantities of green organics at their convenience.

All green organics must be separated and free from contamination. Please remember to cover your load while transporting your green waste to our facilities.

What you can drop off

Residential amounts of green organics include:

  • flowers
  • garden prunings
  • grass clippings
  • leaves
  • tree branches and trunks
  • weeds.

What you can’t drop off

  • rocks, stones, soil or potting mix
  • building and renovation waste (such as timber and fence palings)
  • commercial quantities of green waste
  • treated timber
  • green waste in a bag
  • food
  • manure and animal waste
  • general household rubbish or recyclables
  • plant pots
  • medical syringes
  • clothes and shoes
  • hessian or plastic bags
  • hazardous waste or chemicals.

Who can use this service?

All the above listed WRCs will only accept green organics from City residents (domestic customers).

Commercial mowing and landscape gardeners will be required to pay to use this service. See the current Register of fees and charges for more details.
