Initiated by the City of Gold Coast’s Music Advisory Group, FeedBack supports the Gold Coast’s live music scene in its adaptation and response to COVID-19.

As the Gold Coast begins re-opening in line with the regulations imposed by State and Federal authorities, it is imperative the music industry is front of mind in the process.

FeedBack brings together our cherished local venues, our musicians and our local audiences to together activate the resurgence of live music. This program also acknowledges that, in order to ensure the safety and health of all participants and audiences is safeguarded, venues will incur additional expenses and loss of revenue. In supporting the industry, it is acknowledged that local music venues have their own operating models. FeedBack’s aim is to strengthen live music offerings for the city without diluting or interfering with the business.

Over two extended weekends between 3 December and 14 December, FeedBack will draw our community’s attention to the diverse and exciting live music on offer on the Gold Coast.

An overarching promotional campaign for FeedBack will create city-wide awareness of the program, drive audiences to the venue and musicians promotional and ticketing channels; and support city and venue reputation. Patrons will enjoy live music as a symbol of the city coming back to life, renewing confidence in attending live music venues in their revised format.

Live music venues are invited to apply for a one-off incentive amount of up to $8,000 per gig (plus GST) to participate in the program. Multiple gigs can be proposed in one application; however, the total amount per venue cannot exceed $10,000.

About the program

The program supports live music venues by providing a one-off incentive amount to:

  • present a strong line up of local musicians as part of FeedBack – venues to provide a list of artists in their application
  • promote their gig to their market as per their standard operating model
  • participate in the city-wide campaign, including FeedBack branded sponsorship collateral onsite and during their promotional campaign.

Funding should be directed to cover musician fees and venue costs per session, including labour, utilities, ticketing fees, safe venue practice, and promotion.

You must submit your application online by 31 August 2020 through the City of Gold Coast SmartyGrants portal.
