GENERATE GC Lab 2019
Robina Hospital, Maleika Halpin

GENERATE GC is a two-year program designed to develop new, site-specific work created by Gold Coast artists and creative practitioners.

This is the third iteration of this successful program. The first ran in alignment with Festival 2018 (2016 – 2018) and the second (2019-20) with SITUATE Art in Festivals.

In 2021-22 we continue this very successful partnership.

GENERATE GC provides opportunity for Gold Coast artists and creatives to push boundaries, take creative risks and develop concepts that respond to the unique potential of Gold Coast communities and environments.

The program comprises several stages of activity including:

  • GENERATE GC Lab, followed by an R+D/creative development period
  • mentoring and ultimate commissioning and presentation of new work across the Gold Coast (and beyond)
  • working closely with industry, program partners and stakeholders.

GENERATE GC 2021-22 supports up to eight Gold Coast based artists and creatives.

This opportunity is open to artists and creative practitioners working in:

  • visual arts
  • design
  • architecture
  • fashion
  • digital media
  • installation
  • community arts
  • live art
  • performing arts
  • music
  • writing and
  • other creative pursuits.

If you don't regularly earn income from your practice, you must be identified and recognised by your peers as a practising artist or arts worker.

To be eligible

Artists and creative practitioners who:

  • meet the eligibility criteria
  • demonstrate the potential to engage with audiences
  • work site-specifically
  • are prepared to take risks
  • embrace challenges and collaborate

will be selected by the GENERATE GC selection panel.
