Gold Coast Oceanway - Narrowneck

Gold Coast Oceanway - Narrowneck

Commencing: February 2019
Completion: June 2019
Total project cost: $770,000

Project information

This project includes an upgrade of the existing shared path located along Main Beach Parade at Narrowneck, Main Beach.

The oceanway upgrade will construct a five metre wide coloured concrete path along Main Beach Parade from Ferny Avenue to Ocean Avenue, Surfers Paradise. This design will provide more space for people walking and riding bikes along the route.

The upgrade will be completed in coordination with the seawall renewal works which extend from Higman Street to Ocean Avenue in Surfers Paradise.

Construction details

  • Pedestrian and cyclist road safety signage as part of the traffic management plan will provide clear direction where to walk and cycle as the work stages unfold.
  • Pedestrians accessing the Oceanway will be diverted around the works and pedestrian access to the beach will be maintained through alternative access points.
  • Heavy machinery and construction materials will be located on the beach during the works.

We are working to minimise disruptions. However, pedestrians and beach users may experience detours at times and local residents may notice dust and noise. Thank you for your patience.

Benefits for the community

  • A wider beachfront shared path that provides sufficient space for cyclists and pedestrians
  • car park improvement along Main Beach Parade.
