Burleigh Waters Library closure and renovation

From Monday 10 August Burleigh Waters Library will temporarily close for refurbishment. The planned upgrade will create a better library experience through improvements to our services and facilities, including: 

  • an expanded children's area
  • new family-friendly amenities, including a parents' bathroom
  • additional seating and reading spaces
  • a refreshed, easier-to-browse collection layout
  • extended opening hours, including Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.

During the closure, the following temporary services will be available for Burleigh Waters customers.

Mobile Library service: 

Visit the Mobile Library to collect holds, return items or borrow a selection of popular titles. You’ll find it at the front of the library on Christine Avenue: 

  • Tuesdays and Fridays: 10am – 4.30pm.
  • Saturdays: 9am – 1pm.

Burleigh Waters Community Centre family programs

Join us for free programs for kids aged 0 to 5 years: 

  • Baby Rhyme Time: Thursdays, 11am – 12pm.
  • Toddler Time: Fridays, 10.30am – 11.30am.
  • Learn, Move and Groove Together: Saturdays, 8.20am – 11.20am.

If you need to access library services during the closure, find your nearest alternative library location.

Temporary Library Lounge at Burleigh Heads Library

A temporary Library Lounge is now available at Burleigh Heads Library. Customers can browse and borrow items, access computers and printing services, connect to free Wi-Fi, and make use of seating and study spaces. 

The Library Lounge is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, and will operate until the Burleigh Waters Library refurbishment is complete. 

Library items can still be returned 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the external returns chute at Burleigh Heads Library.

Runaway Bay Library temporary closure

Runaway Bay Library will be closed on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 August while essential works are carried out at the library entrance. The library will reopen on Monday 10 August.

The entrance works form part of a larger project taking place over several months. At this stage, this is expected to be the only library closure required during the project.

The external returns chute will remain open during the closure. To minimise any inconvenience, all loans and holds will be automatically extended so that no items are due during this period.

If you need to access library services during the closure, find your nearest alternative library location.

Gold Coast Show Day public holiday closure

All Gold Coast libraries and kiosks will be closed Friday 28 August for the Gold Coast Show Day public holiday. 

While our libraries are closed, you can still access thousands of online resources through the eLibrary anytime, anywhere.

Temporary changes to the Mobile Library timetable

From Monday 20 July, some Mobile Library stops will operate on a temporary timetable to support the Burleigh Waters Library renovation. We’ve worked to keep disruptions to a minimum and apologise for any inconvenience.

Please check the latest timetable on the Mobile Library page before visiting your preferred stop. Customers using the Cabbage Tree Point, Jacobs Well and Pimpama stops will not be affected.
