Books Set Free

Books Set Free

Books Set Free gives library books from our collection a second life. We donate them to Gold Coast based community organisations and groups as well as Queensland government agencies that support projects or services for disadvantaged people.

Books Set Free are made available quarterly. Submit your application online or visit your local library for more information.

Outreach services

Wherever you are in our city, we aim to make it easy for you to access our library services. Along with our network of amazing libraries and our eLibrary, available 24/7, we also offer a range of other services in the community:

  • Library kiosks
  • Mobile Library
  • Home library service
  • Little Libraries

Explore the pages in this section to discover how we're reaching out to our library members, from the coast to the hinterland.

Check out our Mobile Library for more services across the Gold Coast.

If you have any questions about any of our outreach services, please contact us.

Library kiosks

A library kiosk and book return

Our library kiosks provide a quick and convenient on-demand service, so you don't always need to visit a library to borrow a book. The latest and most popular top reads can now be accessed from even more locations across the city, and it's all free with your library membership.

How to use library kiosks

Borrowing books has never been easier! Follow these easy steps:

  1. Scan your library card to start.
  2. The door will open for you.
  3. Browse and select your items.
  4. Push the green button to close the door.
  5. Items selected will be checked out to your account.
  6. When finished with your books, return to your most convenient kiosk or library location.

The range will be regularly refreshed, so you'll always have a great selection of new and popular books to choose from.

See our helpful FAQs for further advice.

Home library service

A book open on a senior's lap

We offer a home library service for housebound library members who are unable to visit a library due to ill health or disability.

It's a great way to continue accessing great books from the library.

If you don't have the support of family or friends to collect items on your behalf, our library staff can help by delivering and returning library items to and from your home. They can even also assist with selecting items that may suit your interests.

Eligibility criteria apply and places in the program are limited. To find out more and discuss suitability, please contact us by phone or email, or talk to our friendly team at your local library.

Little Libraries

A Little Libraries box with books in it

Our Little Libraries bring books to local communities where the nearest library is some distance away.

They're stocked with books that have been donated or are no longer required in the Gold Coast Libraries collection.

Residents are encouraged to keep books, share with others or return pre-loved books to the Little Libraries which results in a range of books being available.
