Broadbeach Library offers a large, contemporary space and a wide range of library services, resources and activities.
The library is just a few minutes' walk from the heart of Broadbeach, opposite Pacific Fair shopping centre. It's one of the city's most environmentally-sustainable buildings, designed to reduce use of water, electricity and air conditioning.
The current building opened in 2008. The first public library in the area – Canal Estates Library – opened in 1974. The library relocated to its present site in 1977. It was renamed twice: as Mermaid Waters Library in 1983, and then Broadbeach Library in 2008. Find out more about the history of our libraries on our Gold Coast Stories website.
Broadbeach Library is located at 61 Sunshine Boulevard, Mermaid Waters, next to Albert Waterways Community Centre and park, and opposite Pacific Fair. The library is a 10-minute walk from Broadbeach South tram station.
Time-limited free parking is provided outside the library, including accessible parking spaces for people with disabilities. Parking is also provided at nearby Pacific Fair.
During your visit, please follow directional signage, maintain good hand and respiratory hygiene and practice social distancing. We will ask you to scan our QR code with the Check In QLD app when you arrive. Please stay at home if you're unwell.
