Meet an Author: Maggie Walters
Hear Maggie Walters discuss healing, resilience and breaking cycles of inherited trauma.
Join award-winning author Maggie Walters as she returns to the Runaway Bay Library to discuss her new book, Fractured Motherhood.
Motherhood can be challenging at the best of times. For Maggie, the added complexities of trauma, mental health struggles and navigating a rigorous adoption process, brought constant questions and self-doubt. How could she ensure she would not repeat the patterns of abuse and harm she had experienced herself?
At the heart of her journey was one powerful answer: HOPE.
This uplifting, affirming and insightful talk explores the many facets of motherhood, healing, resilience and the ways love can help break intergenerational cycles.
Maggie Walters is also the author of SPLIT: A Life Shared, in which she tells her story of living and surviving a complicated life as she navigates the triggers, twists and turns of living with Multiple Personality Disorder.
Don’t miss the opportunity to hear Maggie speak on facing her past while trying to build a different future for her children. Conversation will centre around what it means to be dissociative (eg: how it happens), and to then lead into a discussion about the book, how Maggie wrote it and the inspiration and hope that keeps her going. There will be an audience Q&A opportunity at the end.
