Commencing: April 2019
Completion: October 2019
Total project cost: $970,000

Project information

The North Road retaining wall in Lower Beechmont will be remediated to ensure the embankment is stabilised.

North Road will remain open to traffic and pedestrians until repair works are complete. The road will be reduced to a single lane with traffic management in place.

Construction details

  • demolish existing timber retaining wall
  • construct concrete pile retaining wall
  • reinstatement of road pavement
  • guardrail installation.

Considerable efforts are being made to minimise disruptions. However, local residents may notice construction noise and dust at times. Traffic will also need to be reduced to one lane and at times short road closures will be required. Traffic management will be in place and access will be maintained.

Community benefits

  • stabilisation of failing road embankment
  • improved road safety
  • improved resilience to landslides and high volume rainfall events.
