Presented by Dr Milton J. Kiefel, Griffith University.

Drug-resistant bacteria are becoming an increasingly important health issue, with the World Health Organisation declaring in February 2017 that there are 12 pathogens which are considered the "greatest threats to human health".

Drug-resistant bacteria are becoming such a health problem that it is estimated that by 2050 bacterial infections will kill more humans each year than those who die from cancer.

Dr Milton Kiefel will describe how drug-resistant bacteria have become such a problem, and will present some of the current areas of research that are being investigated in an attempt to overcome drug-resistant bacteria.
