City of Gold Coast dedicated an industrial zone in Coomera, Gold Coast Marine Precinct, to marine manufacturing, servicing, repairs and refits of recreational boats..
The Marine Precinct is now one of the most advanced and highly respected marine industry cluster developments in the Southern Hemisphere.
A $3 million dredging program will see 14 kilometres of the Broadwater and Coomera River deepened to allow the large vessels up river to undergo refits and maintenance work at the Gold Coast Marine Precinct.
Southport Yacht Club is being trialled as a Border Force clearance port.
Having a customs port in the city encourages foreign super yachts and other vessels to sail directly into the Gold Coast Seaway for clearance rather than Brisbane, providing local industry with more opportunities for servicing, repairs and refits and boosting the local tourism economy.
City of Gold Coast is in full support for the clearance port remaining permanently.
As part of the International Trade and Investment Program, City of Gold Coast facilitates outbound trade missions to support the growth of marine related businesses based in the city.
In recent years, this has included the coordination of a trade stand at METSTRADE – the world’s largest marine equipment trade show – providing Gold Coast exhibitors access to new global trade and export opportunities.
