Reduce school waste

Waste is much more than just the rubbish or garbage found in a bin. There are many ways that we can help to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.

Free school recycling collection service

To help schools reduce their ecological footprint and enable them to mirror home waste practices, City of Gold Coast will provide all Gold Coast schools with a free recycling collection service if they have a general waste collection service with the City.

To support your school when introducing the recycling bins, the City will also provide:

• a visit by a waste collection technical officer to help determine the needs of your school, including the number, size and type of bins required. The officers will also advise on workplace, health and safety issues, including bin placement and types of bin lift equipment available.
• support material, including stickers for your bins and PDF files for uploading on your website to assist parents and students with recycling information.
