Horticulturist Wendy Lamp, who leads the team of gardeners at the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens, says now’s the time to get outdoors and tackle those jobs you’ve been putting off.

“As the hot wet weather gives way to cooler drier months, you’ve got a much better chance of getting back on top of everything. At this time of year, I’d suggest focusing your efforts on cutting back all that excess growth and mulching, readying your plants for the potentially long dry spell ahead. The Gold Coast is generally much drier between July to October, so mulching is really worthwhile to help the soil hold on to any moisture,” she says.
