The minimum age for learn to swim is four months.

What do I need to bring with us to lessons?

Appropriate swimwear, goggles and the swim cap provided as part of your enrolment must be worn at lessons. Babies and toddlers will need to wear swim nappies or elasticised swim pants to prevent any accidents in the pool. We ask that you bring a water bottle to keep the student hydrated and a towel and warm clothes for after their lesson.

Can students swim before and after their lessons?

Students can swim in public access areas of the centre before and after their lessons. Access to the learn to swim pool is limited to the allocated lesson time only.

How will I know when the student is ready to progress to the next level?

Our instructors monitor students progression on-going and will notify the learn to swim coordinator when they are confident they are ready for an assessment. Assessments are conducted regularly within scheduled lesson time and you will be notified on completion of their progression to the next level. It is beneficial for students to practice swimming outside regular lesson times and those that do tend to progress faster. Our centres also provide learn to swim intensive programs during school holidays - instructors can advise you of these dates.

What happens if the student is unwell?

To ensure the health and safety of other students, we are unable to instruct students who are unwell. This includes any student who displays an elevated temperature, diarrhoea or vomiting, body rashes or lesions and nose, ear or eye discharges. If the student becomes unwell during a lesson, we will ask you to remove them from the pool and request they not return to lessons until 24 hours after symptoms have ceased. Refer to the Queensland Health guidelines on exclusion periods for infectious conditions.

What happens if the student is going to be away or needs to miss a lesson?

Make-up lessons are only available if all the fees are current and up to date. To be eligible for a make-up lesson, you must advise the centre 24 hours in advance of the absence. They must be booked and attended within two weeks of the advised absence. Make-up lessons are non-transferrable and non-refundable and once booked, cannot be rescheduled. Two make-up lessons are available every 12 weeks per student.

Can I suspend my enrolment?

All suspensions must be requested in writing using the suspension form with a minimum of two weeks’ notice. Suspensions are available for a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of six weeks. For any suspension over two weeks, a suspension fee of $5.30 per student applies. A total of three separate, non-consecutive, two-week debt-free suspensions are redeemable per student every 12 months. For more information see the learn to swim terms and conditions.

What happens if I need to cancel my enrolment?

All cancellations must be submitted using the cancellation form giving two weeks’ notice. All outstanding make-up lessons must be redeemed prior to cancellation as they are not redeemable or refundable after the cancellation date. Casual lessons or holiday intensives are unable to be rescheduled or refunded.

What if I lose my key tag?

Access key tags are issued to all members and must be presented each visit. Should you not have your tag for three consecutive visits, you will be charged a $10.20 replacement fee for a new key tag. If you lose your key tag, call the centre to let the reception team know.

Do you have child care?

There is a crèche available at our Gold Coast and Palm Beach Aquatic Centres that caters for children from 12 weeks to six years of age. As long as you are a current centre member, pass holder or have your child enrolled in an aquatic program, you are able to use the crèche. Bookings are essential and fees are additional to your membership and must be paid in advance of using the crèche.

Is free parking available at Gold Coast aquatic centres?

At Palm Beach Aquatic Centre there is two hours free parking available. At Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, free parking within the precinct is limited and allocated to certain centre memberships in accordance with the City’s approved fees and charges.
