Traffic management officer holding slow sign

Commenced: November 2020
Completed: January 2021
Cost: $530,000

Project information

We recently upgraded  the Binstead Way and Pacific Pines Boulevard roundabout in Pacific Pines. Approximately 32,000 vehicles use the intersection every day and these works aim to reduce congestion on the western approach during the morning peak period.

These works form part of the City of Gold Coast's commitment to improving our road network across the Gold Coast.

Project details

The upgrade includes the installation of:

  • red and amber traffic lights on the southern approach (Pacific Pines Boulevard), operational based on traffic volume
  • congestion detectors on the western and southern approaches to assess when traffic lights are required
  • CCTV, traffic signal controller and Bluetooth reader infrastructure for monitoring road safety and managing traffic flow.

Benefits to the community

The benefits of this project include:

  • reduced congestion at the intersection, specifically for traffic on the western approach
  • introduction of traffic detectors and signals that will adjust to changing traffic volume
  • improved traffic safety at the intersection.
