Palm Beach – Tallebudgera Drive bridge refurbishment
Commencing: February 2021
Completion: June 2021 (weather permitting)
Cost: $1.3 million
Project information
We are doing maintenance works on the Tallebudgera Drive Bridge over Tallebudgera Creek Canal in Palm Beach to ensure the ongoing safety and serviceability of the bridge.
Construction details
We are replacing the existing, badly degraded bridge barriers with suitable barriers to deter bridge jumping.
Other maintenance works include rehabilitation of:
- bridge abutment protection
- transverse stressing bars
- bridge wearing surface and
- crack repairs on piles and headstocks.
We will be trying to minimise disruptions. However, local residents may notice construction noise and dust at times.
Pedestrian and bicycle access to the bridge will be maintained; however, at times there may be delays in crossing or a requirement to cross over parts of the bridge other than the usual pedestrian section.
Vehicle traffic will be affected by:
- reducing access to single lanes at times
- speed reductions and
- bridge closures for certain periods.
Please refer to the detour map below for an alternate route.
Signage will be installed to notify motorists about the changed traffic conditions.
Thank you for your patience during these works.
Community benefits
The benefits of these works include:
- maintained structural integrity and extended service life of bridge components
- improved safety for all bridge users
- reduced ongoing maintenance costs
- deterred bridge jumping.
