Girl riding a bike along shared path

Commencing: November2019
Completion: December 2019
Total project cost: $125,000

Project information

Works are underway to provide improved road crossing access for pedestrians and cyclists at the Lae Drive and Oxley Drive roundabout in Runaway Bay. The upgrade will encourage active travel in the local area.

Construction details

Works include:

  • Cut outs in the median strips near the Oxley Drive and Lae Drive roundabout to assist pedestrians and cyclists to cross the road.
  • New pedestrian ramps and footpath connections that will comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA).
  • Upgrade street lighting to comply with current Australian Standards.

Access for residents and businesses will be maintained during the works. Road shoulder closures on Lae Drive and Oxley Drive will be required at times during off-peak hours. Traffic management will be on site to assist motorists.

Road users are encouraged to follow the road signs and slow down when approaching the area. Existing footpaths may be temporarily closed and alternative pedestrian access will be provided. Minor traffic delays and some noise and dust can be expected.

Work will be undertaken during standard daytime hours of Monday to Friday between 6am and 6pm.

Benefits for the community

  • Improved options for pedestrians and cyclists.
