

Lodging a search request
The following options are available for lodging search requests:
Online
Rates and water searches
Use this online form to request rates and water searches.
Property purchasers and vendors can now request settlement figures by email from 7am to 2pm weekdays, and receive a response the same day.
Save time and submit your request online. You'll receive detailed up to date balances, charges and water meter reads, as well as any relevant direct debit or rebate details.
Searches
Use this online form to request the following searches:
- Building searches
- Request for copy of decision notice of plan of development
- Planning and development certificates
- Health searches
- Trade waste compliance searches
- Plans and map searches
- Sewer and infrastructure drawings
- House drainage plans for private properties.
- Copies of plans for existing commercial or residential buildings, architectural, soil reports and pest certificates.
Payments can be made online by credit card using BPOINT. For more information about fees and charges, see the Searches fees document below.
In person
Complete the relevant hard copy form as described below and take in to one of our customer service centres.
If you wish to post the form, please attach your cheque, money order or bank draft (in Australian currency) made payable to ‘City of Gold Coast’ and address it to:

Fees
Fees are payable for all search requests. Please see our Register of fees and charges for details of the fees and conditions for each of the different search requests. Alternatively, refer to our Searches fees document below.
If you would like to pay by account, use the Application for credit account form below to apply for a Business Partner account.
Delivery of search results
Please refer to the search request form for information regarding timeframes and options for delivery of search results.
Access details
Property access details must be provided for certain types of searches to enable City officers to make suitable arrangements for inspections of the premise/property involved. Access details should include name and telephone number for the occupier or agent holding the key to the premises. They could also include the business/shop name and premises type.
Please note: absence of information will result in delays and re-inspection fees.
Searches requiring access details include:
- Town planning certificate - full certificate
- Health search
- Building search - building compliance inspection and report
- Trade waste compliance.
Cancellations
Cancellation fees may vary depending on the progress of a requested search. All requests for cancellations must be submitted in writing and emailed to search@goldcoast.qld.gov.au.
