Project information

The City of Gold Coast maintains over 2500 kilometres of stormwater drainage with an ongoing upgrade and renewal program. As part of this program, stormwater infrastructure is being upgraded across the Gold Coast to help reduce local flooding and increase public safety during flood events.

Stormwater drainage works were undertaken along Kindra Avenue (between Dandar Drive and the cul-de-sac to the west), the northern end of Warana Avenue and a small section of Cooleroo Crescent in Southport.

Construction details

A new pipe network was installed in the following locations in Southport:

  • within the road reserve of Kindra Avenue (between Dandar Drive and the cul-de-sac to the west)
  • along a section of Warana Avenue at the northern end
  • across a small section of Cooleroo Crescent.

Benefits for the community

  • reduced risk of road and property flooding in catchment areas
  • improved water drainage following weather events
  • improved safety for the community.
