Southport – Kindra & Warana Avenues and Cooleroo Crescent stormwater upgrade

Construction Pipes

Commencing: August 2020
Completion: October 2020 (weather permitting)
Cost: $600,000

Project information

The City maintains over 2500 kilometres of stormwater drainage with an ongoing upgrade and renewal program. As part of this program stormwater infrastructure is being upgraded across the Gold Coast to help reduce local flooding and increase public safety during flood events.

We are completing stormwater drainage works along Kindra Avenue (between Dandar Drive and the cul-de-sac to the west), the northern end of Warana Avenue and a small section of Cooleroo Crescent in Southport.

Construction details

We will be installing a new pipe network in the following locations in Southport:

  • within the road reserve of Kindra Avenue (between Dandar Drive and the cul-de-sac to the west)
  • along a section of Warana Avenue at the northern end
  • across a small section of Cooleroo Crescent.

We will be working to ensure disruptions are kept to a minimum. However, local residents may experience construction noise and dust at times.

At times there will be single lane closures, which will be managed by traffic control. There will be no full road closures and access will be maintained at all times for motorists and local residents.

Works are proposed to be completed between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

To ensure we can complete the works safely, there will be partial road closures during construction.

Traffic control officers will be on duty to assist, and some traffic delays are expected. Please follow all signage in the area. Thank you for your patience.

Benefits for the community

  • reduced risk of road and property flooding in catchment areas
  • improved water drainage following weather events
