Southport – Slatyer Avenue and Bronberg Court – intersection upgrade

Traffic management officer holding slow sign

Commencing: February 2020
Completion: April 2020 (Weather Permitting)
Cost: $750,000

Project information

Improvements are underway to the intersection of Slatyer Avenue and Bronberg Court in Southport.

Benefits to the community

  • Improved safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
  • New infrastructure will reduce future maintenance costs.

Construction details

This project includes:

  • new traffic lights on Slatyer Avenue outside Bromberg Plaza Shopping Centre
  • new pedestrian crossing on Slatyer Avenue from Bronberg Plaza to Bronberg Court
  • improved signage and line marking
  • improved footpath, kerb and channel works
  • new road surface at the intersection.

Most of the works will occur during standard business hours, and outside of peak periods to minimise disruptions (where possible). Temporary lane closures will be required and we’ll have pedestrian and traffic management in place. Access in and out of Bronberg Plaza shopping centre will be maintained during the day, however there may be some partial lane closures at night.

To allow us to complete the works safely, and to minimise the impact on road users, we will need to do some night works when traffic volumes are lower. Residents will be notified in advance of night works. During construction there will be temporary traffic delays, noise and dust at times. We will do our best to minimise disruptions.
