Project information

Rehabilitation works are underway on the Macintosh Island footbridge in Surfers Paradise. Works will be completed on Friday 26 June, however the bridge will remain closed during July 2020 while engineering checks and calculations are undertaken. The footbridge will reopen before the end of the day on Friday 31 July.

Construction details

  • Cleaning of the footbridge.
  • Replacement of deteriorated screws and bolts.
  • Application of protective coatings.

To enable works to be completed safely, the footbridge will be closed at times during the construction period. Please refer to the detour map below for further information on pedestrian detours required during these times.

Work hours are between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday. Considerable efforts are being made to minimise the impacts to pedestrians and cyclists, however some noise, dust and odour may be experienced at times.
