Tallebudgera - Coplick Footbridge - replacement works
Commencing: June 2019
Completion: August 2020 (weather permitting)
Cost: $1.8 million
Project information
We will be replacing the Coplick Footbridge on Scotty Logan Lane in Tallebudgera to extend the life of the structure and ensure access over the creek continues to be safe for pedestrians and cyclists. During the construction period there will be a closure of the footbridge. Pedestrians and cyclists will be required to detour during this time. Alternative access will be provided to maintain this important pedestrian link for the Tallebudgera community.
These works are part of our ongoing commitment to the development, maintenance and renewal of our city assets.
Benefits for the community
- improved safety for pedestrians and cyclists
- improved resilience to major floods
- the replacement will ensure the bridge is safe to continue operations for its current usage
- ensuring structural integrity and continuity is maintained
- the new bridge will have a design life of up to 100 years.
Construction details
The renewal works include:
- demolition and removal of existing bridge
- removal of concrete piers located in the waterway
- construction of new bridge abutment supports on each side of the Tallebudgera Creek
- placement of new single span steel bridge.
From January to August 2020 closures of the footbridge are required. During this time a pedestrian detour will be in place along Tallebudgera Connection Road.
Please refer to the suggested pedestrian detour map below.
We are working to minimise disruption. However, residents may notice construction noise and dust at times as trucks and other construction equipment will be on site.
Works will take place between Monday to Friday from 6.30am and 5pm. Waterway users will also be restricted around the vicinity of the bridge during demolition and construction. Signage and spotters will be in place to ensure public safety.
Please slow down and observe all warning signs during the works. Thank you for your patience.
