Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) impacts

The health and wellbeing of the Gold Coast community, our customers and City employees is our first priority.

The City is receiving advice from the Federal Government and Queensland Health on a daily basis to inform our response to the Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the city.

Beaches and lifeguard services

Surfers Paradise, The Spit and Coolangatta beaches are closed from 11.59pm Tuesday 7 April until further notice. Please note this includes the dog off leash area at The Spit.

All beachside parking will be progressively closed from Main Beach to Coolangatta to discourage unnecessary use. Parking at Doug Jennings Park and Philp Park at The Spit has already been closed.

Flags have been removed from all Gold Coast beaches. City lifeguards will remain on beaches to respond to any safety issues, however we strongly recommend people stay out of the water. Please try and limit your time at the beach.

We ask everyone to follow advice to stay home unless it’s for daily exercise in your neighbourhood, essential shopping and medical appointments.

For the latest update on the City's response and changes to services, visit cityofgoldcoast.com.au/covid19
