2019 event

The 16th annual City of Gold Coast Monster Machinery Day was held on Sunday 26 May 2019 at the Southern Lawn, Broadwater Parklands.

More than 50 City vehicles were on display, including excavators, graders, loaders, tip trucks, road sweepers, beach tractors, quad bikes, emergency vehicles and so much more! This year there were also three expert stunt motorcyclists risking their lives riding in the Globe of Death and two Army vehicles on display.

  • Is this event free?

    Yes.

    On the Southern Lawn of Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, Southport.

  • Are there free activities?

    Yes, of course!

    Families can check out everything that digs, scoops, cleans and beeps at the 16th annual Monster Machinery Day.

    You will find more than 50 City vehicles on display, including excavators, graders, loaders, tip trucks, road sweepers, beach tractors, quad bikes and more. There’s also free rides and live machinery demonstrations.

    New this year will be three expert stunt motorcyclists risking their lives riding in the Globe of Death and two Army vehicles.

  • Will Mack and Lightning McQueen be there?

    No. this year will be three expert stunt motorcyclists risking their lives riding in the Globe of Death and two Army vehicles. 

  • What public transport will get me there?

    Catch the G:link to Broadwater Parklands. You can also make your journey active and walk, ride, scoot or skate to the event.
  • What about parking?

    Free parking is available at Carey carpark, opposite Australia Fair. 

    If driving your car is a must, be sure to carpool with friends or family.

  • Can I bring alcohol?

    No. 

  • What if it rains?

    If the event is cancelled due to wet weather or any other reason, we will update the event page on the Monster Machinery Day Facebook event page.

  • What food will be available?

    After working up an appetite, families can grab a bite to eat from any of the food trucks on offer including:

  • Can I bring my own food?

    Yes, of course! Be sure to pack a picnic blanket too.

  • Can I refill my water bottle for free?

    Yes you can, look out for the refill stations and bring your own water bottle to refill for free. 

  • What if someone goes missing?

    Monster Machinery Day attracts thousands of people every year and we want to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience at the event!

    If you were to become separated from your child, make sure you have a plan in place before this happens. Write your mobile contact number on your child’s arm or an armband – or if they’re older, arrange to meet somewhere.

    If you become separated from your child at the event, please head to the eastern side of the park and visit the first aid area for assistance.  

  • Can I buy alcohol there?

    No. 

  • Can I bring my pet?

    For the wellbeing of all attending the event, we recommend pets are left at home.
