Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) impacts

The health and wellbeing of the Gold Coast community, our customers and City employees is our first priority.

The City is receiving advice from the Federal Government and Queensland Health on a daily basis to inform our response to the Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the city.

Parks remain open with visitors encouraged to take recommended health and social distancing precautions.

From Saturday 16 May the following City park services and facilities will resume:

  • all playgrounds, gym equipment and BBQ's open
  • skate parks and outdoor basketball courts open
  • sports fields - open for organised groups up to 10 people
  • park bookings up to 10 people
  • Broadwater Parklands is open however the bouncy pillow will remain temporarily closed. Rotary chapel open for weddings up to 10 people and Southport Pier open
  • free tree scheme reopened.

Water fountains/bubblers: Based on advice from Queensland Health, these will remain turned on; however users should practice appropriate hygiene. The City will increase cleaning frequency.

Soap dispensers are available in some public amenities in our most popular parks.

The City welcomes the community to use Gold Coast parks and reserves for special gatherings such as wedding ceremonies, parties and events. Some of these uses may require approval, relevant permits and have appropriate fees/charges applied. Fees and charges may apply for the temporary use of the park for events and activities that have a commercial element such as; ticketed participation, food trucks, goods or services being provided at the event for commercial benefit.
