Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) impacts

The health and wellbeing of the Gold Coast community, our customers and City employees is our first priority.

The City is receiving advice from the Federal Government and Queensland Health on a daily basis to inform our response to the Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the city.

Parks remain open with visitors encouraged to take recommended health and social distancing precautions. Note: The Spit beach, public carparks and off-leash dog area are closed.

Playground equipment, BBQs and outdoor gym equipment: Our 600 playgrounds, 389 barbecues and 347 pieces of gym equipment will be closed until further notice. Signage will be installed.

Park bookings: We will not take park bookings for at least two months.

Water fountains/bubblers: Based on advice from Queensland Health, these will remain turned on; however users should practice appropriate hygiene. The City will increase cleaning frequency.

Soap dispensers have been procured for some of the City’s public amenities in our most popular parks.

Skate parks are closed until further notice. Signage will be installed.

City outdoor basketball courts are closed from midnight 8 April.

The State Government has placed restrictions and closures on Queensland national parks, state forests and recreational areas. Visit the Department of Environment and Science's website for information.
