Due to the recent hazard reduction burn, the trail network in this park is closed from 6 to 21 August 2020.
Located in Burleigh Heads, Ron Mason Park features nature trails that are perfect for bushwalking and cross-country mountain biking. These trails connect into Herbert Park providing approximately three kilometres of recreation trail in total.
The reserve preserves an of concern regional ecosystem comprising of Forest Red Gum (Eucalyptus tereticornis) open forest that provides refuge for Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus), Red-necked Wallaby (Macropus rufogriseus), Sugar Glider (Petaurus breviceps) and Brush-tailed Possum (Trichosurus vulpecula). Bird species which you can typically sight and hear calling, at this reserve include Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus moluccanus), Spangled Drongo (Dicrurus bracteatus), Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae), Australian Brush-turkey (Alectura lathami), Brown Honeyeater (Lichmera indistincta) and Noisy Friarbird (Philemon corniculatus).
Access is via Ladds Ridge Road, Burleigh Heads. Alternatively you can access Herbert Park from Tanjenong Place, Burleigh Heads then follow the nature trail into Ron Mason Park.
No toilets are available and dogs are prohibited in Ron Mason Park and Herbert Park.

A dog prohibited area is the signed part of a park, reserve, foreshore or beach where dogs are not permitted. Dogs are prohibited in all children's playground areas and within 200 metres of all flagged bathing areas. For more information visit our dog exercise areas page.
