Seniors road safety

Recent trends reveal that crashes and injuries among our older road users are increasing. An average of 98 people aged 60 years or over were hospitalised or killed each year between 2008 and 2012 on the Gold Coast.

In almost 80 per cent of these instances, the senior citizen was involved as a vehicle driver or passenger. Unfortunately, evidence also suggests that senior road users can experience increasing physical fragility that tends to result in more serious crash injuries.
