Girl riding a bike along shared path

Commencing: August 2020
Completion: November 2020
Cost: $864 000

Project information

We are pleased to let you know that works to improve cycling and pedestrian connectivity to Robina Town Centre and surrounding residential areas will shortly be underway.

We are constructing over one kilometre of shared pathway on Thorngate Drive, Wayville Place and Kerrydale Park in Robina.

This area is a popular transit route between residential properties, local shopping precincts, allied health and sporting clubs, and the broader transport network.

Construction details

New and improved shared pathways include:

  • a 330-metre section on Thorngate Drive (between Kidman Street entry points)
  • a 300-metre section on Thorngate Drive (between Priddeys Road to Wayville Place)
  • the upgrade of 460 metres of existing narrow pathway in Kerrydale Park with a 2.5-metre-wide shared pathway.

Construction will occur during standard weekday hours of Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm.

Some tree removal and pruning will be necessary, however, new semi-mature natives will be planted to compensate for this.

Traffic management will be in place to assist pedestrians and road users around active work sites. Please follow signs and slow down when approaching the works area.

We will do our best to minimise construction impacts and inconvenience.

Thank you for your patience while we work towards a better-connected city.

Benefits to the community

  • The new sections of shared pathway will be Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) compliant and feature improved kerbside accessibility.
  • This pathway will provide a safe off-road space for pedestrians and cyclists and will fill the missing link for this highly-utilised shopping precinct.
  • Improved landscaping and planting of native species will give the area a fresh new look and feel.
