Commencing: May 2019
Completion: February 2021
Total project cost: $8.35 million

Project information

The City aims to ensure safe, secure, efficient and reliable freight movements through our local road network. The 3000 hectare Yatala Enterprise Area (YEA) is currently among the most significant industrial areas in Queensland.

Funding has been secured through the Australian Government’s Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program to upgrade the road and intersection connecting Pearson Road and Darlington Drive at Yatala.

Construction details

  • Upgrading 486 metres of road pavement on Pearson Road from the intersection at Darlington Drive. We will also widen this section of road to 14 metres to include a traffic lane and a parking lane in each direction.
  • Upgrading 500 metres of road pavement on Darlington Drive. We will also widen this section of road to 20 metres to include a turning lane into Pearson Road and a traffic lane in each direction.
  • Installing rock protection on Darlington Drive and Pearson Road
  • reinstating concrete foot path on Darlington Drive and Pearson Road
  • installing guard rail along Pearson Road.

Construction impacts

Works will be completed between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday (weather permitting).

We are working to minimise disruptions. However, local residents and business owners may notice construction noise and dust at times.

The northern end of Pearson Road will be closed to traffic during construction, detours will be in place.
