Apply for a discount or concession on an existing dog registration

You can apply for a discount or concession to an existing dog registration if:

  • your dog is now desexed
  • you are now a member of Dogs Queensland
  • you are eligible for a pension concession
  • you are eligible for senior or veteran fee relief.

You may be eligible for a refund of 50% of the paid registration fee if your dog has become deceased or has been desexed.

Refunds are only available:

  • before 1 March of the current one year registration period, or
  • during the first year of the current three year registration period.

To apply, complete the refund application form.

Note: Our dog registration period is from 1 September to 31 August with all renewal notices issued in August.

Depending on the type of concession or discount you are applying for, you will need to provide these supporting documents with your application:

  • desexing/sterilisation certificate, or please complete this Statutory Declaration Form
  • your Dogs Queensland membership number
  • Pension Concession card
  • Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) card
  • one of the following documents if you are 60 years or over (for seniors fee relief):
    • Seniors card
    • Proof of age card
    • Driver licence
    • other documentation that has name and date of birth

Download, print and complete the relevant application form.

Step 3.Visit one of our customer service centres

Submit your application Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 4:30pm at a customer service centre.

Conditions for senior or veteran fee relief

Registration fees for up to two desexed dogs may be reduced to nil if the owner is 60 years of age or older, or a veteran.

Fee relief excludes dogs declared as menacing or dangerous. The nominal rate for each registration class will apply for the registration of additional dogs.
