We have several transport options for people with disabilities and seniors. See below for more information.

Bus, train, & tram travel

Free seniors bus travel

Eligible Gold Coast seniors can travel free of charge on Gold Coast Kinetic (formerly Surfside) buses from 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (including public holidays) and all day on weekends.

Car & taxi travel

Council Cab Service

The City's Council Cab Service assists seniors and people with disability to travel to their local shopping centre and back.

This is a door-to-door service and you, and a carer or dependant can travel for only $2 each per trip. Find out more about this service, including eligibility and service areas on our Council Cab Service page or phone 07 5667 5990.

Car parking and disability parking permits for people with limited mobility

Accessible parking spaces are provided throughout the city for disability parking permit holders. Find out more about accessible parking on our Accessible parking page.

Accessible taxis

A number of wheelchair accessible taxi services, which can fit up to two wheelchairs per vehicle, are available. We recommend pre-booking. You can phone:

Accessible vehicles for hire

Wheelies Van Rental provide accessible vehicle rentals. Please phone 1300 352 742 to speak to one of their consultants.

Community transport services

There are various community transport providers in the city that offer transport for medical appointments, shopping and social activities.

Transcord

Transcord Community Transport Organisation Inc. provides transport for eligible seniors and people with disability. Their service includes transport to social and medical appointments. For more information phone 07 5539 3733 or visit the Transcord website.

Volunteering Gold Coast

Volunteering Gold Coast provides low-cost transport for eligible seniors and people with a disability. Services include trips for shopping and social activities. For more information phone 07 5526 0688 or visit the Volunteering Gold Coast website.

Ozcare

Ozcare provides transport assistance for eligible seniors and people with disability. For more information phone 1800 692 273 or visit the Ozcare website.

Feros Care

Feros Care provides social and medical transport. For more information phone 1300 763 583 or visit the Feros Care website.

STAR Community Transport

STAR transport services are available to seniors and people with disability or people with limited access to transportation. The low cost Gold Coast service is available Monday to Friday and includes transport to social and medical appointments. Transport assistance

Mobility scooter use

We understand getting around the city is important to you. Our mobility maps provide accessibility information for key precincts, including Surfers Paradise, Southport CBD, Broadwater Parklands, Burleigh Heads and Broadbeach. To access the maps visit our Mobility maps page.

Assistance using public transport

Assisted Travel provides travel support to community members who find it difficult or overwhelming to use public transport on their own. The program aims to assist seniors to use public transport by giving them a personalised travel plan and map along with the help of a Travel Mentor.
